TET students at Minerva

Two ninth grade students from Espoo International School and Mankkaan Koulu Espoo recently completed their Work Experience Learning (TET) at the Minerva Foundation Institute for Medical Research.

During their TET period, they were introduction to the institute, had lectures on cell structure, imaging techniques, and research on calcium signaling in thyroid cancer cells. The students also engaged in practical tasks such as observing cell culture, fluorescent microscopy, and gel electrophoresis. Additionally, they analyzed data using Excel and GraphPad Prism software, contributing to a short scientific article.

Both students expressed how the experience fueled their passion for science and increased their confidence in pursuing careers in medicine and research.

The TET period was supervised and organized by Muhammad Yasir Asghar (PhD), Senior Postdoc Researcher at Minerva Institute.
