Prof. Kim’s research spanning over 30 years focuses on type 2 diabetes and obesity, and he has made a significant contribution to the field with almost 200 peer-reviewed publications, mostly in high-impact scientific journals, receiving more than 40,000 citations. Funded by the NIH since 2001, he studies the molecular links between obesity and metabolic diseases. His current research program investigates the molecular mechanism of metabolic liver disease and an important connection between type 2 diabetes and Alzheimer’s disease.
