Three doctoral researcher positions in the 36-month Doctoral Education Pilot 2024 Spring call to Minerva research groups
The Ministry of Education and Culture has allocated EUR 255 million to Finnish universities for piloting new practices in doctoral education in 2024–2027. This additional funding is allocated to 1,000 doctoral researchers who will have a three-year employment contract to complete their doctoral research.
Three PhD students start their projects at Minerva in Cellular Neuroscience group, Epigenomics of Complex Traits group and Fatty Liver Disease and Diabetes group.
MSc Jaan Korpikoski was offered a position in Immune System project, starting on 1.8.2024. His PhD aims to analyze peripheral inflammation-induced cellular changes in the CNS during and after peripheral inflammation and elucidate mechanisms leading to these changes. Special focus of the Jaan´s PhD work is to develop image analyses for the project.
MSc Volter Lukander was offered a position in Precision Cancer Medicine project, starting on 1.8.2024. His PhD aims to elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying the complex interactions between lifestyle, mitochondrial function and aging in cancer risk, and generate new knowledge that can be used for better prevention and treatment strategies.
MSc Juho Asteljoki was offered a position in Precision Cancer Medicine project, starting on 1.1.2025. His PhD project aims to elucidate key alterations in hepatic intermediary metabolism underlying the progression of in advanced liver disease, including hepatocellular carcinoma, and thereby identify novel therapeutic targets and disease biomarkers.
